May 2007 - Taormina, Sicily - Between the Sea & the Volcano

Taormina is a city with amazing views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. Europe's largest volcano is visible behind me creating clouds which block the view of its flat wide peak. The volcano erupted about three weeks ago and is still smoldering as a result.
Here we are at the top of Taormina with wide views of the Ionina Sea which Mount Etna slopes into creating a dramatic coast line which is amazingly fertile and covered in flowers and lush vegetation.

These beautiful pictures show off Isolabella and the beach at Taormina, They speak for themselves so we spared you the description. Enjoy the natural beauty of the Taormina seaside. This is a view of Isolabella from the bottom of Taormina. This small island is accesible on foot from the beach at Taormina because the strait separating it from the mainland is very shallow.

After taking a ton of photos, Kenny decided to relax and get a "Chinese Massage" from this young Asian woman peddling them on the beach.
In the meantime, I lied out to get a little sun after slathering myself in spf 30 - very unItalian of me.
